Shared Planet 2008
21 - 23 November

Shared Planet is the UK’s largest student conference on world poverty, human rights and the environment. It brings hundreds of students together for a weekend packed with big-name speakers, skills and issue-based workshops, debates, discussions, films and a massive party!

War on Want will have a lead role in two of the workshops:

Saturday 22 November, 2:00 - 3:30pm and 4:00 - 5:30pm

Poverty and Walls: Life Under Occupation in Palestine
Speakers: Ruth Tanner, Campaigns and Policy Director, War on Want; Dan Judelson, Jews for Justice for Palestinians

Sunday 23 November, 2:00 - 3:30pm

Financing conflict: big business and the arms trade

Latin America 2008
6 December

War on Want is sponsoring Latin America 2008, an event bringing together trade unionists, NGOs, academics and progressive movements from Latin America and the UK to explore recent developments across the region.

The event, which will feature stalls, films, music and discussion, is open to all those who wish to support and learn more about the struggle for self-determination and social justice in Latin America.

Every day seems to bring a new crisis: financial markets in turmoil, energy price rises, food riots, violent conflicts and environmental disasters. And whatever the disaster, poor and marginalised people are always affected the most.

The world doesn't have to be this way. Every person on the planet can make change happen. 6 Billion Ways is a day of ideas, discussion, creativity and action to explore the causes and solutions to these interlinked global crises. Come along to be inspired and make connections with others who want to be challenge injustice.

With speakers, films, music, and a chance to learn and practise new skills, 6 Billion Ways is your chance to get inspired and join local and global networks building a better world.

6 Billion Ways is organised by City Circle, Friends of the Earth, War on Want, Jubilee Debt Campaign, People and Planet, the World Development Movement and Rich Mix.
